Brattleboro, VT —Richard (“Rich”) Moore, Founder and former Assistant Director for Springfield Supportive Services and Former Case Manager for Brattleboro’s Morningside Shelter, received the illustrious Tom Yahn Award last Thursday evening at Windham & Windsor Housing Trust’s (WWHT) 31st Annual Meeting.

The award is given out annually, in honor of former WWHT board member Tom Yahn, to a Brattleboro community member who demonstrates a long term commitment to the preservation and development of affordable housing and/or to the lives of those who live in affordable housing.

Rich Moore has a long history of supporting vulnerable individuals and families in Windham and Windsor Counties, both at the former Morningside Shelter and through his work, as a founder in 2006, of the Springfield Supported Housing Program (SSHP).

WWHT’s relationship with him began in the late 90’s as the Service Enriched Housing case manager at Morningside Shelter. For two decades Rich has worked with WWHT and other landlords, successfully finding affordable housing for hundreds of homeless clients, and providing supportive services to bring stability into their lives. His work at SSHP continued until his retirement in mid- 2018, and has had a lasting impact for residents who found a stable home due to his efforts throughout Windham and Windsor Counties.

“We are delighted to bestow the Tom Yahn Award on Rich this year” said WWHT board president Greg Hessel. “Rich is an asset to our community and a truly giving person who has done so much to help people get into stable housing that they can afford.”

Above all, Rich is known for being a patient, compassionate, and stalwart advocate in helping people in need identify and reach their life goals, and as a trusted collaborator and mentor for service providers and housing partners.
