Brattleboro – Windham & Windsor Housing Trust will host two special community events during a weeklong celebration of community and volunteerism nationally recognized as NeighborWorks Week. The schedule of events includes the 5th Annual Windsor Village Picnic and Resource Fair on June 10th; and the 5th Annual Invasive Species Clean-Up on June 12th at the Chalet property in Brattleboro.

Both events are part of the annual NeighborWorks Week, when thousands of volunteers, business professionals, and elected and civic leaders join together for an annual week of service and celebration of homeownership and successful community development.

During NeighborWorks Week (June 7-14), WWHT and other NeighborWorks network organizations across the country celebrate the resiliency and strength of their communities, and empower people to create meaningful change in their lives.

The public is invited to join the following programs and special events hosted by WWHT

  • 5th annual Windsor Village Picnic

Tuesday June 10 – Windsor:

For a fourth year running, WWHT will partner with local services to bring this community building event to their Windsor Village property. The majority of Windsor Village residents are elderly and/or disabled, supported by the SASH program on-site, but there also is a family block. This event provides an opportunity for intergenerational connection while also connecting residents of all ages directly with services. 65 State Street, Windsor.

  • 5th Annual Chalet Invasive Species Clean Up & Education Day

Thursday, June 12 – West Brattleboro:

Join WWHT staff & board, local conservation groups and teams of volunteers in a hands-on day of invasive species identification and management. The day will include learning about the species and how they affect ecosystem resilience, garden creation and beatification. Lunch provided as well as some crafts to celebrate community and impact, and to foster some new connections. The Chalet was originally redeveloped as an emergency health measure in 2020 and is one of WWHT’s 2 permanent supportive housing properties, located on South St., W. Brattleboro.

This will be our last Invasive Species day before the redevelopment construction begins at the Chalet. We will also present a quick update on where we are in the process and timeline for redevelopment on site.

WWHT’s mission is to strengthen the communities of Southeast Vermont through the development and stewardship of permanently affordable housing and through ongoing support and advocacy for its residents.  WWHT builds concrete solutions to the region’s housing challenges, and provides better housing opportunities to more than 1,500 Southeastern Vermonters each year.
