An Uncertain Road Ahead
Right now, our community is faced with extraordinary challenges. Across our region, too many of our neighbors are struggling to find — and keep — a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home. Rents have soared, vacancy rates are at historic lows, and families are being forced to make impossible choices between housing, food, and other essentials. In fact, well over half of the residents that participate in our SASH and SASH For All programs have reported food insecurities this year.
And just when the need has never been greater, critical funding for programs that make affordable housing possible is being cut. The safety net that so many rely on is beginning to fray — and the stakes couldn’t be higher.
At the same time, on the other end of the housing spectrum, our team continues to guide hopeful homebuyers on their path toward the American dream. But now, federal funding that supports our homeownership counseling and assistance programs face steep cuts—threatening to put even that dream out of reach.

Every day, we are working to create and preserve homes that families can afford, helping renters become homeowners, and ensuring that vulnerable Vermonters have the stability they need to thrive.
Every day, we are rising to the challenge with determination and resilience – innovating, building, counseling, supporting.
Every day we are learning, collaborating, and finding new ways to help — from innovative housing solutions, to expanding our Shared-Equity portfolio, to our SASH-for-All program connecting residents with health and wellness support.
This year alone:
- 93 first-time homebuyers have received the tools and guidance to purchase their own homes;
- 16 home repair projects have been completed;
- 50 permanently affordable homes have been created or are under construction;
- 139 residents have been supported through our SASH-for-All and community programs;
Behind each of these numbers is a story of stability, opportunity, and hope.
