Beginning Your Journey to Home Ownership!
We’re excited to help you become a home owner! The first step is to familiarize yourself with the homebuying process. This workshop and program is encouraged for anyone becoming a homeowner regardless of income. We have a couple options for you listed below as well as downpayment assistance information. The next step will be to meet with one of our specialists who will help you define a budget as you start searching for your home whether through our shared equity program or through traditional market sales!

Home Buyer Education Workshops via Zoom or in person!
We offer the interactive home buyer education workshop both in person and via zoom. Start the registration process by clicking the links in the table below! Our Homeownership Program Coordinator will then email you links to the forms required to complete your registration and secure a spot in the class. Note: Attending classes online via zoom will require access to a computer and internet.
Find a home that fits your family and your budget. Get a smart start to home ownership by attending one of our Home Buyer Education Workshops. The cost of the class is $99 per household and includes a one-on-one financial counseling session after you’ve completed the course. Our Home Ownership Specialists will analyze your credit and budget and guide you through the process of buying a home. If you’re a current WWHT resident who is up to date on rental payments, your fee is waived! For questions, please contact jpaquette@homemattershere.org.
In the workshops, you’ll learn about grants and other down payment assistance as well as which mortgage is right for you. Workshop plus meeting with homeownership specialist meet the pre-purchase requirement for most lenders.
All courses are on a Saturday from 8:30 am-4:30 pm, classes held in person in Brattleboro OR White River Junction and via zoom. Below is the schedule for 2026 so far. Please click “Register Today” on the month you plan to attend.

Classes will be taught by HUD-certified Homeownership Specialist Ana Mejia
After the workshop, household must meet at least once with a Homeownership Specialist in order to receive lender-required certificate of completion. At that time, households can receive 1 complimentary tri-merge credit report (that will not affect your scores) to review with the Specialist.
There is no charge for meetings with Homeownership Specialists for ongoing support through the homebuying process.
Individual classes may be cancelled if less than 4 households are registered. In the event of a cancellation, registered attendees will be notified and the $99 fee can be applied to a future class.

Home Buyer Education — Online Courses
Windham & Windsor Housing Trust also offers Home Buyer Education courses online. These are self-paced online workshops available 24/7 through eHome America. Completing the workshop plus meeting with homeownership specialist meets the pre-purchase requirement for most lenders. This course is $99 per household.
Mortgage & Loan Assistance
Affordable homeownership is available to income eligible homebuyers through our Shared Equity Program. We provide grants to assist you in purchasing an eligible single-family home of your choice, and work with you to obtain a mortgage loan from a local bank.
